Sanitation Standards for Disposable Chopsticks

The Standards are prescribed in accordance with the provisions of Article 17 of the Act Governing Food Sanitation.
The disposable chopsticks referred in this standard are those chopsticks made from bamboo or wood, intended for direct usage without washing or rinsing, and shall not be re-used.
No discoloration, off odor and flavor, contamination, moulds, damaged by worms, foreign matter or fiber shedding shall be found in disposable chopsticks.
The sulphur dioxide residue of the disposable chopsticks shall not exceed 500 ppm.
Hydrogen peroxide and diphenol shall not be detected in the disposable chopsticks.
1The Standards shall be implemented on December 1, 2007.
2The promulgation of amended shall be implemented on the date of promulgation.
